Description

Bishopsdale House is a former house that has been converted into a warehouse. It dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and is constructed of rubble with stone dressings and a stone slate roof. The building has three storeys and three bays.

The central entrance features a chamfered surround and a dripstone above a six-panel door. To the left of the entrance is a former doorway, also with a chamfered surround and a basket-arched lintel, which has been partly blocked to create a window. At the far left, there is a double chamfered two-light cavetto mullioned window on a square stool, while on the far right is a similar but taller three-light window with stone mullions that have been replaced by timber; both windows have hoodmoulds.

On the first floor, there are two 18th-century chamfered mullioned windows with moulded surrounds, along with a 17th-century double chamfered three-light cavetto mullioned window to the right, positioned slightly higher and featuring a continuous hoodmould. The second floor has three former two-light chamfered mullioned windows located just under the eaves, although all the mullions have been cut out. The building also has a mix of 19th and 20th-century casement windows, some of which include early 20th-century stained glass.

The gable features shaped modillions, and there are gable end and central ridge stacks. The right-hand return side includes a first-floor entrance with a chamfered surround and a 17th-century lintel that has an illegible date. On the second floor, there is a two-light chamfered mullioned window with the mullion now cut out. The interior of the building does not contain anything of special interest.
