Description

This is a house, now divided into two dwellings, Snowden View and Low House. The house to the right, Low House, dates to 1683, with alterations and the raising of the roof in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with a graduated stone slate roof, and quoins are present. The building is two storeys high, with Snowden View (to the left) having two bays and Low House (to the right) also having two bays.

Snowden View features a central six-panel door with quoined jambs. Three inserted windows are on the left side, with the leftmost window beneath a shaped 17th-century chamfered lintel. A continuous dripmould runs above the whole front. To the right of the door is a 4-light window, and the first floor features two sash windows in stone surrounds with projecting sills. Gable coping is present on the left, with end stacks.

Low House has a central 20th-century door within a moulded, chamfered, quoined surround, featuring an ogee doorhead with raised lettering "IS 1683" in a recessed panel. To the left is a 5-light recessed chamfered mullioned window, and a continuous dripmould extends over the door and window, also covering the window of the Snowden View section. Later bay windows are present on the right side of Low House. The first floor has a recessed chamfered surround to a 20th-century window on the left, and a plain stone surround to a 20th-century window on the right. End stacks are banded. The interior was not inspected during a recent survey. A barn converted into part of Low House is not included in the listing.
