Description

This is a row of three cottages located on Main Street in Howsham. They were likely built in the late 17th century. The cottages are constructed from hammer-dressed sandstone and have a pantile roof. They feature direct entry and rear outshuts. The cottages are two storeys high with six first-floor windows. They have massive quoins. The ground-floor windows are board doors, flanked by two-light Yorkshire sash windows, with the exception of a casement window on the extreme left; all windows have wooden lintels. The first floor windows are casements. The steeply-pitched roof has rebuilt end and ridge stacks, and there is evidence of raised eaves visible in the gable end.
