Description

The Abbey is a house dating from the early 18th century, with later 18th and 19th century additions and 20th century alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble with brick detailing, and ashlar dressings. The roof is covered in pantiles, with raised and coped gables, kneelers, and two gable and three ridge brick stacks. The house is two storeys plus attics, and features quoins and glazing bar sashes throughout.

The north west front has five windows wide. An off-centre doorway sits within a two-storey canted bay, featuring a part-glazed door, overlight, and a triple sash window above. To the right is a tripartite sash window, above a single sash. To the left are two single sash windows to each floor, with a set-back section beyond, also containing a single sash to each floor. Further to the left is a second two-storey canted bay window with a triple sash to each floor. Two, three-light raking dormer windows are positioned above.

The south west front features a two-storey canted brick bay window with a triple sash to each floor, and a narrow sash to the left. Above are two smaller windows in the gable.

The south east front has two two-storey canted bay windows, the one to the left having a pair of part-glazed doors. Beyond to the right is a narrow sash window. Above is a three-light raking dormer and a two-light hipped dormer. To the right is a projecting double gable wing with an off-centre pointed arched doorway with a 20th century door and fanlight, a sash to the right, and a large segment-headed window to the left. Above are a tripartite sash to the left and two sashes to the right.
