Description

Spring Hall is a house dated 1708. It is constructed of rubble stone with ashlar dressings and has a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has eight bays. Quoins are present. A gabled porch with a full-height design is located in the fourth bay from the right. The porch contains a half-glazed door set within a chamfered surround with a continuous dripmould, above a rectangular window with a moulded stone surround, shaped kneelers and coping. Chamfered mullion windows with two lights are found throughout the building; three are positioned either side of the porch on the ground floor, three to the right and four to the left on the first floor, with one window on the left-hand first floor being blind. Shaped kneelers and stone coping are present. Large end stacks are situated to the left and right. At the rear of the building is a lozenge-shaped stone inscribed "LJB 1708”. The interior includes a large inglenook fireplace. Spring Hall is a good example of a formerly common Yeoman's house.
