Description
Crayke Manor is a large house dating from the 17th century and early 20th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features pantile roofs with stone coping and end chimneys on the original range. The 17th-century section is two storeys high with three bays, including a central two-storey porch. It has four-light stone mullion windows topped with pediments, and the porch features a semi-circular keyed arch flanked by flat pilasters. The first floor has three-light mullion windows with square labels, and there is a round panel in the gable of the porch, along with quoins. To the right, there is a 20th-century extension designed in the style of the 17th century, which has a gable front. The windows throughout the building have decorative leading. Inside, the room above the porch retains original oak panelling, and there is more original panelling in other areas. The staircase leading to the attics has original flat balusters, while additional panelling from Howley Hall, near Morley, was inserted in the early 20th century.
