Description
Numbers 41 and 43, also known as West View Cottage, is a building that was originally constructed around 1760 and has since been converted into two cottages with later alterations. The exterior features whitewashed coursed rubble and a stone slate roof on the left side, while the right side has a 20th-century concrete interlocking tile roof with stone slates at the eaves.
The building is two storeys high and has two first-floor windows, with a lower extension on the right. The central entrance consists of a part-glazed four-panel door set within a dressed stone surround, topped with a projecting slab. The windows are four-pane sash types, also in dressed stone surrounds. A shaped kneeler is located on the right side, and there is ashlar coping at both ends and the center of the building.
At the ends, there are chimney stacks. The extension on the right features a part-glazed door in a quoined surround, while a board door is set in a dressed stone quoined surround within a screen wall of rubble, which has ashlar coping on the left side. The date of construction is supported by documentary evidence.
