Description
Rose Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a stone slate roof. The building has three storeys and one bay, with quoins at the corners. On the ground floor to the right, there is a part-glazed six-panel door set in a renewed plain ashlar surround, topped with a hood made of slabs that forms an open pediment supported by brackets. The window openings have flat arches and projecting ashlar sills; the ground and first floors contain 16-pane sash windows in exposed boxes, while the second floor has a smaller 12-pane casement window. At the eaves on the left side, there is a fluted rainwater head embossed with the initials "IDW". The cottage features shaped kneelers and ashlar coping, with rebuilt end stacks. Additionally, on the gable of the right return, there is water-tabling from the steeply pitched roof of Ivy Cottage nearby.
