Description

East Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-18th century, with 19th century and later alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble and has a Welsh slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan with a rear wing on the left side. It stands two storeys tall and features a symmetrical arrangement of one bay on each side. The ends and the left side of the doorway have quoins, suggesting that the left-hand section may be the older part of the structure.

The central doorway is framed by an ashlar architrave on bases, although it has an unsympathetic 20th-century door. On the left side, there is a sash window on each floor, both with ashlar lintels and projecting sills. The first-floor sash window is flanked by two blocked small square windows and has iron ties. On the right side, there is a 20th-century casement window on each floor, also with ashlar lintels and projecting sills. The building features shaped kneelers and ashlar coping, along with end stacks. The left half of the farmhouse may have originally been the gable end of an earlier range, which is now represented by the rear wing and may have originally been three storeys tall.
