Description

A row of six small cottages dates from the 18th century and is Picturesquely situated down the slope of a hill, off Newbiggin. Number 2 is a two-storey, three-window cottage, one window being blacked out. The others have hung sash windows with glazing bars, and a modern door. It features rough brick relieving arches. Number 3 is two storeys with one hung sash window with glazing bars to each floor, and a modern door. It has a lower window with brick voussoirs, and a stone slate roof. Numbers 4 and 5 are single-storey cottages. Number 4 was derelict at the time of the survey. Number 5 has two windows and a door, with sliding sashes, wooden lintels, one hung sash with glazing bars and a plain door. It has pantiles and a stone slate roof. Number 6 is two storeys with one window, a modern casement, and a plain door, with brick arches and a slate roof. The cottages are included as part of a group.
