Description

Carters Yard is an early 19th-century building located off Newbiggin. The main front features ashlar stonework, a plinth, and rusticated quoins, topped with a slate roof that has kneelers. The façade is three storeys high, divided by bands, and includes two windows with hung sashes and glazing bars. The entrance to the yard has a segmental arch with a rusticated head. The yard elevation consists of two sections, also three storeys tall, with a configuration of one over two over one windows, stone arches, and hung sashes with glazing bars. The lower part has one irregular modern window on each storey and a modern door. Nos 1 to 6 in the yard form a group.
