Description
Bank Top Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century and 18th century, constructed from rubblestone with ashlar dressings and a pantile roof. The building has two storeys and two bays, with an outshut on the left-hand gable and a through passage plan. It features stone quoins, and the central entrance has a board door set in a quoined surround with a lintel that includes a raised keystone. The windows are 12-pane side-sliding sashes with thin ashlar surrounds, and above and slightly to the left of the door is a small 1-pane window also in a thin ashlar surround. The right side has a shaped kneeler and stone coping, while each side of the building has a large offset external stack with moulded cornices. Each gable displays a small 1-light 17th-century opening with a wooden frame and leaded glass. The steeply pitched roof has sprocketed eaves. Inside, the main room on the right features a large inglenook fireplace with a moulded mantel and an inglenook bench with a shaped end. The interior remains unspoiled.
