Description
Catto Hall is a farmhouse dating to the 17th and 18th centuries. It is built of coursed squared stone, partly rendered, with a pantile roof. The original section has two storeys and three bays, arranged around a lobby entrance, with an 18th-century one-bay addition to the right, which is rendered. A boarded door with an overlight is located to the right of the left-hand bay, set below a moulded four-centred arched lintel. All window openings have chamfered surrounds, with wooden casements: two 3-light windows are to the right of the door, and the remaining windows are 2-light, with a small blind window above the door. The right end bay has no openings and is taller. A stack is located at the left end, two are on the ridge, and a tall stack is at eaves level to the right of the original building. The roof is steeply pitched with sprocketed eaves. An original 2-light stone mullion window is on the east side. Inside, the main ground-floor room retains original beams and stop-chamfered joists with run-out stops.
