Description
Stankhall is a farmhouse dated 1585, with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays. It features a deep plinth with chamfered coping. The central entrance has a four-panel door set in a doorcase with original chamfering on the jambs and impost bands, topped by a 19th-century round arch with stone voussoirs. All windows are 20th-century casements, set within original chamfered surrounds that were formerly mullioned and transomed. The end stacks have moulded cornices. The south gable includes a two-light mullion casement window and a blocked similar window, while the other gable has a blocked doorway that bears a date but is very worn. Historically, Stankhall was once a larger house built for the Lascelles family before they relocated to Harewood.
