Description
This barn, located approximately 10 metres east of Low Snowden, dates from the mid to late 18th century and incorporates some features from the late 17th century. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and has a graduated stone slate roof. The barn comprises six bays and features quoins.
The central cart entrance has quoined jambs and a wooden lintel, with a byre door to the left that has tie-stone jambs, and an outshut to the right. At the rear, there is a central threshing door with tie-stone jambs, while the left and right returns each have a central mucking out door. The right return also includes a doorway on the left leading into a lean-to with tie-stone jambs, and a square pitching door in the gable. The barn is adorned with bulbous kneelers and gable copings. Inside, there are five queen-strut trusses. This barn is included in the register for its group value only.
