Description

Pinfold is a late 18th-century structure that was restored in the 20th century. It is built from coursed rubble stone and features a wall that is 0.75 metres high, topped with curved coping. The north side has a straight wall, while the other three sides have irregular curved walls. There is an entrance gateway at the north-east corner, which includes stone jambs and a cast iron gate. This pinfold is a large-scale and well-preserved example of a traditional vernacular pinfold, historically used for the accommodation of sheep.
