Description
The Church of St Luke is a deconsecrated chapel located on Kings Road, dating from around 1897, with a tower and spire added around 1903. It was converted into a dwelling in 1983. The building is designed in a Decorated Gothic style and features a nave with five bays, a three-bay chancel, aisles, transepts, and a prominent west tower with a spire. The roof is slated with corbelled eaves, and the structure is built of grit stone ashlar with buttresses. It has two-light aisle and clerestory windows, and a five-light east window with curvilinear tracery. Inside, there is a kingpost timber roof. The southwest porch has a tabernacle over the entrance, which features an arched doorway with receding orders. St Luke's Church is a notable local landmark, which contributes to its significance.
