No 6 Frenchgate is a mid-18th century building that stands three storeys tall and is finished in painted roughcast. It has a modern asbestos pantile roof. The facade features three windows set in plain stone frames, each adorned with rusticated keystones. On the first floor, there is a 19th-century bay window that lacks glazing bars. To the left, there is a door framed in plain stone with a rusticated keystone above it, and a blocked fanlight. The door itself consists of six panels. This building is part of a group that includes the York County Savings Bank and Nos 4 to 10 (even) Frenchgate, as well as Swale House.
