Description

43 and 45 West Road are a late 18th-century to early 19th-century house, now divided into two cottages. The building is constructed of coursed sandstone with a clay interlocking tile roof. It is two storeys high with three first-floor windows. Quoins are visible on the right-hand side. The central section features paired doorways. To the left is a 20th-century boarded stable door beneath a deep lintel, while to the right is a part-glazed door set within an ashlar surround. The windows have ashlar surrounds, with 20th-century casements on the first floor to the left, 16-pane sashes on the first floor to the right, and a 6-pane window in the centre of the first floor. The right-hand side features a shaped kneeler and ashlar coping while the building has brick end stacks.
