Description
Whitwell House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with a later section added to the right. It is constructed of pale reddish-brown local brick and features a first-floor band and dentilled eaves. The roof is swept pantile with chimneys at both ends and in the center, the latter being the original chimney from the 18th-century house before the later additions. The building has two storeys and two bays, with an additional two-bay section. The former end baffle entry has been blocked and now features a modern pedimented doorcase with a 6-panel door. The current entrance is located at the rear. There are modern casement windows and a garage door to the right. Inside, the house has beamed ceilings and a chamfered inglenook beam. The roof structure consists of coupled rafters with a single level of purlins and curved tie/collar beams, with the pitch on the south side having been renewed.
