Description

Alne Cottages comprise a house and cottage, dating from the mid-18th century. They are built of red-brown local brick, with a swept pantile roof and end and ridge stacks. The structure is two storeys, consisting of a two-bay house attached to a single-bay cottage. The gable faces the road. The central entrance to the house has a modern door within a 19th-century wooden case with a modillion hood. A 20th-century door is set into the cottage, with a blind panel above. Sixteen-pane sash windows are set within flush wood architraves. A three-course first-floor band and dentilled eaves are visible. On the gable end are two bays with small-paned Yorkshire sash windows and a two-course eaves-level band.
