Description

Lane House is an early to mid-18th century cottage with alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of watershot masonry with stone dressings and a tile roof. The cottage is two storeys high and double-fronted. The entrance is within a gabled porch which is butt-jointed to the facade, and contains a mid-20th century door within a plain surround. The windows are from the early to mid-18th century, featuring recessed flat-faced mullions and 20th century casements. On the ground floor, there are two lights to the left and three lights to the right, both with dripstones. The upper floor has two two-light windows. A ridge stack is present on the right-hand gable end. Another ridge stack is located at the former left-hand gable, which now connects with a former 19th century barn that has been converted into part of the cottage. A reused datestone inscribed "LT 1660" is found in the right-hand return.
