Description

These are a pair of houses, numbers 1 and 3 School Row, built in the late 18th century. They are constructed of coursed squared gritstone with a graduated stone slate roof. The houses are two storeys high and have four windows on the first floor. Quoins mark the corners. The design is mirrored between the two sets of cottages, each featuring a 20th-century glazed door set within a plain surround, with tie-stone jambs at each end and in the centre. The ground floor windows are 16-pane sashes in stone surrounds, while the first-floor windows are a mix of 12-pane and one 16-pane sashes, also within stone surrounds. A ridge stack is located between each pair of windows. The interior has not been inspected.
