Description

The Ford is a house, likely dating to the late 17th century or possibly earlier, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of rubble, with a pantile roof and has two storeys and a 2:1 window arrangement on the first floor. The main part of the house to the left has rough quoins. The central doorway has a 20th-century six-panel door set within an ashlar surround, which is quoined and has a chamfered surround with a Tudor-arched soffit; there is a central butt joint to the lintel. On the ground floor, there are sash windows with glazing bars on either side of the door, the one to the right being partly within the surround of a mullioned window. A 15-pane casement window, in a double-chamfered surround, is on the first floor to the left, and a 15-pane unequally-hung sash window is to the right. A raised verge is visible to the left. Brick end stacks are present. To the right is an added bay, featuring a board door and a side-sliding sash window on the ground floor, and another side-sliding sash window on the first floor, with two brick stacks at its right end. To the left is an added range of two lower storeys, featuring two 12-pane unequally-hung sash windows.
