Description

The Clothing Factory is a mid-19th century building that was originally a covered market. It is two storeys high and features a rendered exterior on a stone base, topped with a modern tile roof. The upper storey overhangs, supported by wood and iron brackets. There are nine windows, which are two-light sashes without glazing bars. The roof is hipped and has a ventilation grid in the center. The ground floor has wooden doors, and there is a section at right angles made of ashlar with modern asbestos tiles. The windows have stone flat arches. This building is included for its group value, as it contributes to the ensemble of listed buildings in Sandgate and forms a group with those in Market Place.
