Description

The derelict coal staithes, built around 1846, are located in the Station Yard to the south-west of the Station House. They were constructed for George Hudson's Great North of England Railway. The structure features coursed rubble and ashlar, with seven square bays, of which the left four are complete. The front ends of the walls dividing the bays are faced with ashlar. This building is included for its group value.
