Description

Stepney House is a farmhouse dating back to the early 19th century, although with deeds from 1740 and later alterations in the early 19th century. Originally a farmhouse, it features an attached brick cottage, numbered 169, added to the east end. The main house is constructed of stone rubble and has a gable-ended roof covered in old pantiles. The front facade has three windows, featuring flush-framed glazing bar sashes on the first floor and a three-light Yorkshire casement window on the ground floor. A later stone-gabled porch with a glazed door was added centrally to the left. The two-storey brick cottage, No. 169, has a single glazing bar sash window on each floor, and a trellis-covered porch. A single-storey stone rubble wing extends from the rear of Stepney House, and the gable ends of the roof are topped with saddlestones.
