Locomotive Shed Approximately 30 Metres To South-West Of Leeming Bar Station

The locomotive shed, built around 1848 and possibly designed by G T Andrews, is located approximately 30 metres to the south-west of Leeming Bar Station. It is constructed of red brick with a Welsh slate roof and has a square plan. The building is one storey high and consists of two bays, with a lower one-bay wing at the centre of the right return. It features a plinth and two large round-arched wagon openings with board doors. The eaves overhang, and the roof is hipped and pyramidal in shape. At the rear, there are two large lunette windows with metal glazing bars and sills. The right return wing has a 24-pane sash window with a stone sill and a flat brick arch, with the roof hipped to the right. The main block has round-arched openings on the sides and a corniced stack. The left return includes a similar round-arched opening on the right and full-height double board doors on the left.
