Description

Chantry Cottage is a house that originated in the 17th century, with the eaves level raised in the 19th century and renovated in the 20th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed limestone and features a pantile roof. The building has a three-cell through-passage plan and stands two storeys tall, with three first-floor windows. It has a board door and 4-pane sash windows beneath wooden lintels throughout. The eaves are sprocketed, and there is a ridge stack. The gable end shows evidence of a former single-storey cottage that is reputed to have had a cruck frame.
