Description
Howdale Cottage is a house dating from the early 19th century, constructed of coursed, hammer-dressed sandstone with a slate roof. It has a lobby-entry plan and is two rooms deep. The front of the building is two stories high and features two windows. On the left side, there is a recessed and blocked cart entrance that used to lead to the yard of The Nag's Head Inn. On the right side, stone steps lead up to a four-panel door topped with a rectangular fanlight. The windows are sash style with glazing bars throughout. The door and the left window have plain, milled lintels. There is a single ridge stack located to the left of the center. The cottage is included in the listing partly for its group value.
