Description

Saint John's Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, possibly incorporating earlier features. It has a rendered exterior with a Westmorland slate roof on the right side and a lower pantiled roof on the left. The front features a central four-panel door and a nine-pane sash window to the right. To the left, there is a side-sliding sash window with glazing bars and a small two-light window under the eaves. On the right, there is another sash window with glazing bars set in flush frames. A tall brick chimney stack is positioned near the eaves of the lower roof, against the gable of the higher roof. The left bay of the cottage includes the west end of the aisle of St John's House, and it is included for its group value.
