Description

This is a house dating from around 1830. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone with a Westmorland slate roof. The property is two storeys high and has three bays. A four-step approach leads to a central six-panel door, which is set within a stone architrave with a plain entablature and cornice, and features a fanlight above. Flanking the door are tripartite bow windows, with the lower section featuring a sash with glazing bars, set on a bowed plinth and walling. The first floor has recessed 16-pane sashes with monolithic lintels. An ashlar coping is present on the right-hand gable, and the building has gritstone end stacks. The materials and style are reminiscent of St Mary’s Catholic Church located to the south.
