Description
Howkeld Mill is a watermill dating from the early 19th century, although it has earlier origins and a later extension. The building is constructed from limestone rubble resting on a sandstone rubble base, topped with a pantile roof. It stands three storeys high and features three windows. The corners have irregular quoins. There is a plank stable door on the ground floor to the right and a similar door, now half-glazed, on the first floor to the left. All the windows are large-paned horizontal sliding sashes with heavy, milled lintels.
Inside, the mill stones are reportedly still in place on the first floor. The brick extension to the right is not considered of special interest.
