Description
Rye Bridge is a bridge from the late 18th century, although it has earlier origins and may have a rebuilt parapet. It is constructed from grooved and herringbone tooled sandstone and features two unequal arches, with a pointed arch to the east and a round arch to the west, separated by buttresses. The bridge includes a band, parapet, and coping. It is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument. This information is noted in Pevsner's "Yorkshire: the North Riding," published in 1966.
