Description

No. 53 High Street is an 18th-century building, with the top floor likely added in the early 19th century. It features painted brick in Flemish bond and has a Welsh slate roof with an off-centre chimney. The building stands three storeys high and has three narrow windows. The first floor windows have gauged brick flat arches, with keystones, while the windows above are modern but retain their original openings. On the left side, there is a six-panel door with an oblong fanlight and a reeded head, set in a delicate surround of reeded pilasters, a frieze, and a modillion cornice. The shop front, which is segmental bowed, has a stone stallriser and a modern central door, but retains a similar decorative treatment.
