Description
The lodge to Monk Fryston Hall is a Grade II listed building dating from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar with magnesian limestone ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and is designed in the Jacobethan style, standing two storeys tall with single bay gable ends.
The lodge includes a plinth and quoins, and at the angle, there is an ashlar porch with fluted pillars that support a round arch featuring a keystone, cornice, and a low parapet. The gable ends are adorned with a 3-light mullion and transom bay window; the left side window is set under a segmental arch with a keystone, fluted pilasters, a cornice, and a low parapet. On the first floor, each wing has a 3-light mullion window in an ashlar surround under a relieving arch. The remaining windows are single light, also in ashlar surrounds. The building is finished with ashlar kneelers topped by vase finials, ashlar coping, and remnants of finials at the apex. There are also rear and side stacks.
