Description
No 22 is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the late 18th century and has some alterations from the 19th century. The building is constructed of limestone and has a stone slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has two bays. The central entrance features a glazed door, with shop windows on either side that are supported by slender columns and arches. The 19th-century window casings have recessed panels and a richly-moulded cornice, although this is now obscured by a 20th-century sign board. To the right, there is a 20th-century glazed door with a wooden surround, moulded brackets, and a cornice. On the first and second floors, there is a blind central panel flanked by 20th-century bow windows below and 20th-century casement windows above, all set within the original openings. The building has projecting sills and plain lintels, as well as dentilled eaves and end stacks. It is included in the listing for its group value.
