Description
The former barn, located 10 meters northeast of Trappes Hall, dates back to the 17th century and is currently used as a garage and for storage. It is constructed of rubble with some stone slates remaining, although the northern section features a recent butterfly roof. The barn has a U-shaped plan with cross-wings on either side of a threshing floor, both of which are gabled, though the northern gable has been removed. The building includes quoins and chamfered doorways that open inward from the cross-wings. There are also chamfered cart entries, with the eastern entry blocked by a wall between the outer faces of its buttresses. Inside, the southern cross-wing contains a loft, and three massive king-post trusses with angle struts can be seen, although one is now exposed to the air on the north side. The southern gable features a datestone that may read 1634 or 1684.
