Description
The Grapes is a public house built in the late 18th century, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed from limestone rubble brought to course, featuring ashlar dressings and a pantile roof. The building originally had a lobby-entry plan, which has since been altered. It stands two storeys high and has three first-floor windows, along with a single-storey, single-bay range to the left. The structure has a plinth and an off-centre four-panel door with an overlight, set in a doorcase that has consoles supporting a hood. The windows are sashes with glazing bars throughout, featuring stone sills and wedge lintels with chisel tooling, except for the left range, which has a tripartite sash with a wedge lintel and stone sill. The roofs are swept, and the building has gable coping and shaped kneelers, along with ridge and end stacks.
