Description
This is a milestone located approximately 10 metres south of the Blue Bell public house, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of gritstone and stands about 1.75 metres high. The base is square, with two sides shaped into a semi-circular section, while the other two sides display inscriptions. The left (south) face reads: 'Catterick 21 / Piersbridge 32½ / Gretabridge 361', and the right (north) face reads: 'Boroughbridge 1 / London 203'. The milestone is positioned at the edge of the road but is partially obscured by a hedge.
