Description

This is a pair of gate piers located approximately 100 metres west of Shaw Hall, dating from the late 17th century. They are made of ashlar and stand about 2 metres high. The piers feature banded rustication, hollow moulded cornices, and stepped pyramid finials. These piers are a rare survival from this period, with Shaw Hall itself dated 1687.
