Description
The entrance screen at East Lodge to Broughton Hall was built in 1839 by George Webster. It features gatepiers, gates, and wing walls made of ashlar and cast iron. The gatepiers and terminal piers have channelled rustication, with tapering panels on the gate piers topped by heavy pediments that are adorned with carved gryphonic heads. The structure includes dwarf walls of a similar design and rock-faced intermediate piers. The heavy gates and railings are decorated with spear finials and ornamental tails.
