Description
Monk Fryston Lodge is a house built in the mid to late 18th century, with additions and alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from magnesian limestone ashlar and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has a central staircase plan and stands two storeys high with five bays, where the second and fourth bays are canted. There is a plinth at the base, and the central entrance consists of a four-fielded-panel door with an overlight, situated between tall four-pane sash windows. This entrance is sheltered by a Roman Doric portico that includes a frieze and cornice. The house has four-pane sashes throughout and a continuous first-floor sill band. A wooden eaves band is present, and the roof is hipped with concealed stacks. The interior was remodelled in the late 19th century.
