Description
Hillcrest is a house, possibly a former bobbin mill, dating from the early 18th century with a 19th-century restoration. The south front features coursed squared gritstone, while the rear and gable walls are made of rubble, topped with a pantile roof. This double-pile house has two storeys and an attic, with three first-floor windows. The central entrance is a four-panel door, with the top two panels glazed. Flanking and first-floor windows are sash windows, all set in sawn stone surrounds. At the rear, there is a two-light double-chamfered mullion window, with a round-headed stair window above it. The left side has two two-light double-chamfered mullion windows that light the attic. The right side features a straight flight of steps leading to a boarded door on the first floor, with a single-light attic window to the left. An attached outbuilding is present on the right but is not of special interest.
