Description

West End Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located on The Green in Borrowby. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with a 20th-century pantile roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has five bays. A four-panel door, featuring a cyma-recta-moulded hood-mould over the lintel, is positioned in the second bay. The two bays to the left have original four-pane sash windows. The openings in the remaining bays have been renewed. A small first-floor window is located to the left of the central bay. The building has shaped kneelers and stone coping to the right and between bays 2 and 3. End stacks have a chamfered band and moulded cornices. The central room contains an inglenook fireplace with a shaped seat on the left and a 17th-century panelled cupboard door on the right. The farmhouse was undergoing restoration at the time of resurvey.
