Description
The gate piers, gates, and railings located approximately 100 metres east of the Church of Saint Oswald's form the main entrance to Hauxwell Hall. They date from the early 19th century and are constructed from ashlar stone. The square piers feature chamfered rustication and sit on plain bases, topped with cornices and a griffin on each pier. The wrought-iron gates have spear finials on plain bars, with each gate displaying a roundel that features a lion rampant. The simple railings are set on coursed-stone side walls that have a segmental plan, finished with ashlar coping. The terminal piers are plain ashlar, square in shape, and capped with pyramidal tops.
