Description
The watering trough located in the centre of the stable yard at Newby Hall was constructed around 1777 for William Weddell. It is made of stone and stands approximately one metre high and two metres square in size. The trough features concave fluted sides and a rolled-back rim. On the west side, there is a step and recess, which may have been designed to help steady a bucket.
