Description

This is an 18th-century sundial located approximately 12 metres south of the Priory in Nun Monkton. It is made of limestone and features a bronze gnomon. The sundial is octagonal in shape and stands on a square base, reaching about one metre in height. The column has a roll-moulded base, a roll-moulded central band, convex sides, and a frieze decorated with beads and foliage, topped by a plain gnomon. It is included for its group value.
