Description
The lion statue located in the grounds of Sheriff Hutton Hall, approximately 20 metres east of the house, is a garden sculpture created in 1638 by Thomas Ventris for Thomas Ingram. Made of limestone, the statue stands about 0.5 metres high and is set on a later wall by the garden steps. The lion is depicted seated on a rough base, but it has a damaged head. The statue is referenced in Gilbert C.'s works on Sheriff Hutton Hall from 1965 and 1966.
