Description
A lion rampant is located on the north side of the entry at Hanham Court. This 17th-century sculpture is made of limestone and features traces of ancient color. The lion supports an oval scrolled cartouche and stands on a low stone base, which is affixed to a later plinth at the foot of the tower of the church of St George, next to the entry to Hanham Court. The lion depicts a Creswicke lion, which is the emblem of the Creswicke family, the owners of Hanham Court at that time.
